FRIDAY NIGHT DOG BLOG - COGNITIVE CANINES

I suppose most people were aware that dogs think. Now there is experimental evidence that they can deal with abstract concepts. But I suggest dogs have a different conception of the surrounding world, if only because the sensing neuronal paths have developed with different priorities.

Still they have managed, for the most part to adapt us to their needs. Sasha, for example, looks particularly pleased when she sees I am getting ready to take her out. Of course, most of the time I am attributing emotions and outlooks to them based on the photos that may not correlate with their view of the world.

Then their is inter-dog behavior that can be observed. We met Cooper up the back, and I encouraged him to come with us in the hope that he and Dexter would overcome their antipathy, but as you can see Cooper kept his distance.

Sasha looking pleased.

Dexter not looking too miserable.

We will take the high ground.

Caught in the moment.

Serious moments indeed.

Waiting patiently.

Dexter looks down on Cooper.

Cooper keeps his independent distance.

Dexter doing his best to look miserable.

As we do each week we will seek to board Friday Ark, and join up with the community.

Nice dogs. They enjoyed the outing. I think you did too:) At least you were able to take plenty photos.

Thanks for the comment.

I hope you liked the photos. As you say there are plenty of them, and what you see is a very reduced selection.

We were out early in morning on last Wednesday, and I saw something that looked like a stump. When it moved, bounding away graciously as they do, I saw it was a bush wallaby. The dogs did not bark. So I have to say I enjoyed that experience. On this occasion it was good they were on leads, which now they are used to.
